Catering Coordinator

  • Based at Camp Jungai in the Rubicon Valley

As a Catering Coordinator of Camp Jungai, in the Client Relationship Management Team, you will support programs that aid The Outdoor Education Group to realise the potential to make outdoor learning accessible to more young people.

As the Catering Coordinator, you will lead the camp catering team to deliver high quality service to our clients at all times. This role will be based at Camp Jungai in Rubicon, VIC. We are seeking a passionate and capable leader with proven experience with team management, coaching, compliant practice and proactive forecasting to ensure best practice.

We seek the following skills and attributes in our Catering Coordinator:

  • Experience and/or qualifications in the management of Food Safety, team leadership and awareness of good OH&S practises (current Supervisor’s Food Handling Certificate required).
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally to deliver the best possible service for the Organisation.
  • Solution-focussed thinking to improve delivery, while controlling the cost base.
  • Ability and drive to work alongside your team in every task supporting and empathising in their challenges.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks for a timely completion of work.
  • Ability to analyse requests and ensure daily decision making is in line with the organisations strategic direction.
  • Availability to work a flexible roster and be on call; working weekends is inherent in the role and you may be required to travel interstate.
  • Experience working within budgets, and are able to put on the ground solutions in place to rectify budgetary concerns.
  • Customer focused and a proven track record of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with monthly reporting and driven to achieve agreed KPI’s.

Raft Trip Leaders, VIC based 

The Outdoor Education Group is one of the largest providers of outdoor learning in Australia with a reputation for quality and innovation. As a Raft Trip Leader you will facilitate programs that aid The Outdoor Education Group to realise the potential to make outdoor learning accessible to more young people.

As senior members of the field team, Specialist Support staff members hold a unique position to coach, role model and train best practice in the field of outdoor education.  There are opportunities for Goulburn River Trip Leaders, Restricted Level 2 Trip Leaders (specific to water levels and group leader skill pairing), Level 2 Trip Leaders. Trips run from 4-16 days in length- with an opportunity to work expeditions, and progress into trainer opportunities.

Your practical skills and experience in delivering quality Outdoor Education is required, along with:

  • A passion for outdoor education and the benefit it brings to the building of social capital in young Australians
  • A proven people leader and team player with experience working with students.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with staff to ensure excellence in risk management, leadership and rapport.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in educational programming, outdoor leadership or related disciplines.
  • Currency in Swift Water Rescue Certification and assessment.
  • Ability and experience driving with trailers, and in 4WD conditions as required.

  • Optional/ Advised Level 2 Core Workshop: June 12th (paid day, Eildon)
  • Staff Development program/ Whitewater skills assessment: June 13th-16th (location TBC)

Your practical skills and experience in delivering quality Outdoor Education is required, along with:

  • Ability to:
    • Maintain professionalism and establish clear levels of communication with regards to needs of the program, in field program management & leadership with our clients.
    • Adopt leadership strategies which account for changes to the group; individuals and nature of the program.
    • Manage the needs of the group and program in relation to wellbeing, safety briefings and risk management systems.
    • Identify and manage hazards on a continual basis.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of activity specific incident trends
    • Utilise a range of facilitation practices to maintain an educational focus and create a positive learning environment.
    • Apply teaching practices such as lesson planning, identifying learning preferences & utilizing teaching resources to support learning.
  • Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Outdoor Education/Recreation or equivalent with recognised competency in at least two of the following: Bushwalking, Cycling, or Canoeing.
  • Two years’ experience in outdoor education or related field desirable, with recognised competency and/or logged experience in one or more of the following activities: abseiling, climbing, high ropes, rafting, sea kayaking and ski touring.
  • First Aid skill equivalent to Wilderness First Aid (50 hour+) course, current CPR (annual renewal), current National Police Check, Working with Children Check (VIC or NSW) manual driver’s licence OR a commitment to achieve this before commencing employment.
