As an Outdoor Education Professional working with The Outdoor Education Group you have the opportunity to work in different venues, on camp and/or journey based programs across Victoria, South Australia & New South Wales. Our programs deliver meaningful education through activities such as rafting, bushwalking, canoeing, sea kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing/abseiling, group initiatives and ropes courses.

In a salaried role, you can expect to sign a 12-24 month agreement. Salaried roles offer a more stable development plan and consistent weeks of work & wages balanced across the year. Casual roles work well for those who are studying part time or freelancing, as dates of work can be confirmed months in advance.

Internships are run in association with Wodonga Tafe, providing the balance of work experience with vocational training at a Certificate and Diploma level. Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation Partnership with Western Institute of TAFE (Lithgow)

The Outdoor Education Group has over 30 years’ experience delivering quality outdoor education and leadership programs that are nationally and internationally renowned. We operate school & community programs across Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and the ACT, with expeditions also taking place in the Northern Territory, Tasmania and Queensland. Programs run from one-day to four-week journeys, including dedicated Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey programs, and typically involve activities such as bushwalking, canoeing, cycling, overnight camping & group initiatives.

The Outdoor Education Group has a strong partnership with Western Institute TAFE (Lithgow campus) ensuring students can balance both work and study life. The partnership between The Outdoor Education Group & Lithgow TAFE provides opportunities for those with a Certificate III to increase their nationally recognized qualifications while working regularly in the industry. The Outdoor Education Group provides you with opportunities to gain skills and experience that broaden your knowledge & employment prospects.

The Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation with Lithgow Campus is a professionally delivered course that provides employment pathways into outdoor education, adventure guiding and tourism, adventure activity instruction, corporate outdoor training and outdoor adventure therapies. Graduates are highly sought after in Australia and overseas.

Partnership Facts
• The aim of this partnership is to balance workplace experience with vocational training at a Certificate IV level.
• You will be enrolled & study Cert IV Outdoor Recreation at Lithgow Campus.
• You may be employed casually with The Outdoor Education Group working during peak weeks in our organisational calendar.
• You will be subject to a three month probation period with The Outdoor Education Group.

Essential Criteria
• You must possess a Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation from an Australian TAFE or tertiary institution.
• You must have or be willing to obtain Leaders Advanced Wilderness First Aid Certificate (70 hours/7 days)
