Head of Finance and Information Technology

The Outdoor Education Group is one of the largest providers of outdoor learning in Australia and has potential to improve its overall performance and growth through stronger business foundations and people management.

As the Head of Finance and Information Technology (IT) you will lead activities to establish fit for purpose and contemporary people and business practices. Reporting directly to the Executive, this integral senior role ensures the performance, compliance, organisation, and development of the Outdoor Education Group’s financial resources and the business and operating systems.

We seek a proven leader with the following skills in our Finance & Resources Directorate:

  • You have a passion for outdoor education and the benefit it brings to the building of social capital in young Australians.
  • You have qualifications and experience in Business and Accounting, and the ability to understand financial systems and processes, to inform your decision making.
  • You have practical experience in managing operational activities across a multi-site organisation with multi storage facilities.
  • You have a proven ability to build strong relationships to deliver the best possible business outcomes for the Organisation.
  • You have the ability to look at the day to day challenges of individual teams, and develop solutions that align and improve delivery for the entire organisation, while controlling the cost base.
  • You are an experienced and effective people leader and team player.
  • You have an appreciation for the nuances of the not for profit sector and the relative position of The Outdoor Education Group.

This role will be based in one of our three office bases (Eildon VIC, Moss Vale NSW, or Hawthorn VIC) and will involve interstate travel as required to ensure consistency across locations.

Team Mentor

  • Flexible work life balance

  • Salary Range of $43,000-55,000 plus super and leave loading

As a Team Mentor you will facilitate programs that aid The Outdoor Education Group to realise the potential to make outdoor learning accessible to more young people.

As senior members of the field team, the Team Mentors hold a unique position to coach, role model and train best practice in the field of outdoor education.  You have the unique opportunity to work consistently with a small group of staff members to develop their practice in delivering quality outdoor education programs. The Team Mentors will benefit from succession planning to progress into Lead Trainer or Program Coordinator positions across our organization.

Your practical skills and experience in delivering quality Outdoor Education is required, along with:

  • A passion for outdoor education and the benefit it brings to the building of social capital in young Australians
  • A proven people leader and team player with experience in managing small teams
  • The ability to work with staff to maximise their performance potential, provide professional development opportunities.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in educational programming, outdoor leadership or related disciplines with a strong focus on facilitation.
  • Equivalent to Diploma level skill sets (as a minimum) in one or more of the following areas; Bushwalking, Canoeing, Sea Kayaking, Rafting, Skiing or Cycling.

Casual Cook

The Outdoor Education Group is one of the largest providers of outdoor learning in Australia with a reputation for quality and innovation. As a Cook in the Client Relationship Department you will support programs that aid The Outdoor Education Group to realise the potential to make outdoor learning accessible to more young people.

Our Cooks work as part of the camp team to deliver high quality food service to our clients at all times. We are seeking a committed member of staff, to support the team during our many busy weeks of the year; typically during the school terms. During this period we require flexibility of casual staff to work between 2-5 days per week and some weekends.

We seek the following skills and attributes in our Catering Team:

  • Previous catering experience or a passion to learn
  • Experience and/or qualifications in Food Safety and awareness of sound OH&S practises
  • Ability to follow instruction and work independently when required
  • Ability to manage varied and complex dietary requirements ensuring the health and wellbeing of all visitors to our camp
  • Customer focused and with excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of attention
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks to ensure sound decision making for completion of work within set timeframes
  • A proven ability to communicate effectively within the catering team

Client Relationship Manager

This is a leadership role which has ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of excellent partnerships with all stakeholders in the School community while promoting and implementing the Outdoor Education program. Client Relationship Managers have multiple schools as part of their portfolio; they work with Senior Leadership Teams within schools to develop and review existing outdoor education programs.

We seek a visionary approach to the support of this client relationship:

  • You have proven skills as someone who builds relationships and instigates change
  • You have excellent communication and leadership skills to work with diverse stakeholders, achieve set outcomes, and support effective feedback and reporting
  • You are well versed in the Victorian schools market as it relates to outdoor education
  • You have excellent knowledge of budgets, contracting process and financial reporting
  • You have experience in educational programming, outdoor leadership or related disciplines
  • You have a passion for outdoor education and the benefits it brings to the building of social capital in young Australians

This role will be based at our Melbourne office located in Hawthorn; the role will involve travel and a small field load.

This is a leadership role which has ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of an excellent partnership with all stakeholders in the School community while promoting and implementing the Outdoor Education program. This is a dedicated and embedded School Manager position with The Outdoor Education Group.

We seek a visionary approach to the support of this client relationship:

  • You have proven skills as someone who builds relationships and instigates change
  • You have excellent communication and leadership skills to work with diverse stakeholders, achieve set outcomes, and support effective feedback and reporting
  • You are well versed in the Victorian schools market as it relates to outdoor education

This role will be based at the School’s Mooroolbark campus, which will involve some travel and an associated field load.
